Over the past five years, New Balance has become one of the leading names in the sneaker scene, able to speak simultaneously to running enthusiasts, luxury lovers and a new generation living between streetwear and fashion. After bringing silhouettes such as the 990, 2002R, 1906R and 9060 back to the centre of attention, the brand continues to experiment.
The 1890A is not simply a new sneaker: it is an aesthetic language that draws inspiration from classic footwear and brings it into the contemporary landscape.
If, until a few years ago, the idea of a sneaker with references to loafers would have seemed unthinkable, today it represents one of fashion’s most interesting directions. The runways anticipated this contamination, reinterpreting the classic penny loafer through sporty volumes, oversized soles and hybrid constructions.
New Balance has observed this shift without simply chasing it. The 1890A retains all the comfort of the ABZORB platform, while introducing an upper constructed like a heritage shoe, with visible stitching and clean lines that recall the world of leather goods. In the "Snakeskin" version, premium leather, python-effect inserts and natural tones turn animalier into material expression.
